Red Ribbon Celebration Theme

While the Red Ribbon Celebration Pledge never changes, there is a new Red Ribbon Celebration Theme each year.
Our 2009 Red Ribbon Celebration Theme is "Dream, Believe, Achieve, Succeed"

About this year’s Red Ribbon Celebration Theme:

The "Dream, Believe, Achieve, Succeed" Red Ribbon Celebration Theme theme is inspiring to young people. It also reminds adults that we must work every day to support the development of "Protective Factors" (skills and competencies) that every young person needs in his/her life in order to prevent alcohol, tobacco, other drug use and violence.

There are three categories of Protective Factors:

  1. Caring Relationships,
  2. High Expectations, and
  3. Meaningful Participation

And each category should be experienced in the following four domains:

  1. At Home,
  2. At School,
  3. Among Peers, and
  4. In The Community.

Research has shown that promoting the development of protective factors is an effective prevention strategy. This year, we challenge you to plan Red Ribbon Week activities that focus on this area. We know that if you do, you will have hosted a thoughtful Red Ribbon Week campaign that is truly meaningful - AND FUN!

The resources and information featured on the Red Ribbon Coalition website and in the Red Ribbon Training Manual will help you get started.
